GFWC International Day of Service
This week, the Garner Woman’s Club joined thousands of women’s clubs across the country to make a collective impact through the GFWC International Day of Service.
Our members prepared and served a meal for about 20 women and staff at Designed For Joy, a Raleigh nonprofit that empowers women overcoming crisis situations with transitional work and support. Their success rate is striking: 84% of program participants move into permanent employment. Designed for Joy pays women in crisis real wages and helps them build toward permanent employment. Their mission is to replace vulnerability with dignity — and their artisans have earned over $830,000 in competitive wages to date.
One woman shared that this was her final day in the program—making the meal we served potentially her last guaranteed food-secure meal. Moments like this remind us why service matters and how even small acts can leave a lasting mark.
We are proud to stand with GFWC clubs nationwide, showing the power of women united in service. Check out the links below and see the amazing products they craft at Designed for Joy. Shop their hand crafted leather bags: https://www.designedforjoy.com/collections/shop-all
