GFWC-NC President’s Special Project Award Grant presented to Spiritual Twist Productions

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of North Carolina and the Garner Woman’s Club are proud to recognize Spiritual Twist Productions with the GFWC-NC
President’s Special Project Award Grant in the amount of $600.

The grant was awarded as part of GFWC-NC President Karen Throckmorton’s 2024–2026 President’s Special Project, “Find Your Beat, Join the Rhythm!” — an initiative dedicated to highlighting the importance and value of the arts in schools, in therapy, in everyday life, and in communities to promote cohesion and inclusiveness. Under President Throckmorton’s
leadership, the project raised $10,000 to be distributed to organizations across North Carolina that support its core mission: Arts, Hearts, and Minds.

“The Arts are used to communicate ideas. They are a tool for self-expression, a form of therapy, and they shine a light on the meaning of life,” said GFWC-NC President Karen Throckmorton. “GFWC members have those same abilities, and organizations like Spiritual Twist Productions are living proof.”

The award honors Spiritual Twist Productions’ outstanding commitment to fostering and supporting the performing arts within the Garner community for more than 30 years. Located on Aversboro Road in Garner, Spiritual Twist Productions has become a beloved treasure in the Town of Garner, providing uplifting and inspiring performing arts experiences for audiences of all ages. Producing twelve major musicals each year, the organization gives students and performers of all ages the opportunity to grow in confidence, creativity, faith, and community while sharing their talents with others.

“Their impact goes far beyond the stage,” said Janice Guazzo, First Vice-President of the Garner Woman’s Club, during the award presentation. “They foster mentorship, volunteerism, teamwork, and a love for the arts that strengthens our entire community. In a world that can always use more joy, encouragement, and  connection, Spiritual Twist Productions continues to shine a light through the performing arts.”

The Garner Woman’s Club also expressed enthusiasm about building a lasting relationship with Spiritual Twist Productions through future collaborations supporting the arts, young performers, and community engagement in Garner. “Small towns thrive when organizations work together, and we believe this is just the beginning,” Guazzo added.

Sharon Hisler, Production Manager for Spiritual Twist Productions, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
