State Arts Festival 2026

Our Local Arts Festival: Garner Talent on Full Display

If you needed proof that Garner is quietly packed with creative talent, our Local Arts Festival delivered it in full color.

This year’s showcase brought together student entries from Garner Magnet High School and South Garner High School, plus inspiring work connected with Able to Serve right here in Garner. And on top of that, we had something extra special: our own clubwomen entered their work too. That kind of “we don’t just host it, we do it” energy is peak Woman’s Club.

A Garner tradition with real roots

The Garner Woman’s Club has supported the arts for decades, and our annual Arts Festival has been part of that tradition since 1974, created to promote visual, creative, and performing arts in our community. It’s also not just a one-and-done event — local winners can advance to District and State competition levels through GFWC-NC.

Shoutout to our students: the future is doing fine

Our Garner-area high school students showed up with work that was bold, thoughtful, and genuinely impressive. Whether it was visual art, photography, writing, or performance categories, you could feel the effort and personality in the entries.

Able to Serve: creativity + community, together

We also loved featuring entries connected with Able to Serve, a local nonprofit that supports adults with disabilities through skill-building, service opportunities, and community connection. Their contributions brought so much heart to the festival.

Our clubwomen brought the talent, too

One of the best surprises this year was seeing our own members step into the spotlight with their submissions. We had clubwomen enter pieces in:

  • Knitting
  • Scrapbook pages
  • Photography
  • Quilting

It’s a great reminder that our club is full of women with deep creativity and serious skill — not just in service, but in the arts, too. And it made the festival feel even more like a true community showcase.

Thank you to our judges (you make this work)

A huge thank you to the people who judged this year’s entries with care, fairness, and real attention to detail. Judging creative work is not as simple as “pick the prettiest one,” and we’re grateful for your time and expertise.

What we showcase

Our Arts Festival includes categories like Arts, Photography, Crafts, Literature, and Sewing — a fun mix that celebrates both hands-on creativity and performance courage.

Why we keep doing this

Because the arts are not extra. They’re how communities tell the truth about themselves, how students find confidence, and how people connect across differences.

And because supporting arts and opportunity has been part of the Garner Woman’s Club mission for generations.

GFWC-NC Arts Festival recap:

Five members of GWC attended the GFWC-NC Arts Festival in Mebane. The festival brought together clubs from across the state as we celebrated the arts, participated in crafts, and capped off the day hearing from keynote speaker, author Lee Smith. Congrats to our student from South Garner High who won first place as well as Joy Masepoli – who won first place in both her categories!
