Garner Woman’s Club got a little louder in the best way recently – on your morning drive.
Our very own Alisha Puckett was invited to share about the Blessing Box on Main Street on 96.1 BBB’s “Tell Me Something Good” segment, a feel-good feature that highlights positive stories from around the Triangle.
Alisha talked about why the Blessing Box exists, how it works, and how our community is already stepping up to keep it going. The box, located on Main Street at the Garner Lions Club property, is a simple idea with a big purpose:
“Take what you need. Leave what you can.”
Inside the Blessing Box, you’ll find:
-
Nonperishable food items
-
Basic hygiene products
-
Household essentials
It’s designed for neighbors who need a little help to get through the week, and for neighbors who are able to give a little extra. No forms, no questions, no barriers. Just quiet support, available any time of day.
Why this matters right now
During the interview, Alisha shared how food insecurity is affecting more families than many people realize. With rising costs and ongoing delays or gaps in benefit programs like SNAP, something as small as a can of vegetables, a box of pasta, or a pack of soap can make a real difference for someone in our town.
The Blessing Box is not meant to replace full food programs or long-term solutions, but it is a way to:
-
Fill the gap between paychecks
-
Help families through tough weeks
-
Show people they’re not forgotten
A community effort
The Blessing Box is a collaboration between:
-
Garner Woman’s Club
-
Garner Lions Club
-
Local individuals and businesses who donate items
Garner Woman’s Club members help stock the box and spread the word, while the Lions Club generously hosts the box on their Main Street property. Community donors quietly swing by to drop off extra groceries or toiletries, showing how powerful small acts of kindness can be.

We’re proud of Alisha for sharing our story on the radio and even more proud of how Garner continues to show up for one another.
This little box on Main Street is proof: kindness doesn’t have to be fancy to be powerful.
