The Garner Woman’s Club is proud to announce the installation of a new Blessing Box on Main Street — a small but mighty symbol of generosity and community spirit. The Blessing Box provides a place where anyone in need can “take what they need” and those able to give can “leave what they can.”
“This little box represents what our town does best — showing up for each other,” said Janice Guazzo, First Vice-President of the Garner Woman’s Club. “Whether it’s a can of soup, a box of cereal, or a few words of encouragement, every item placed here makes a difference.”
The Blessing Box is stocked with nonperishable food, hygiene items, and household essentials. Community members are encouraged to help keep it filled year-round, especially during the upcoming winter months when food insecurity often rises.
With recent delays in the distribution of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits affecting many North Carolina families, the Blessing Box arrives at a critical time. For households waiting for their benefits to process, even a few days’ gap can mean empty shelves at home. The Garner Woman’s Club hopes this small gesture will help bridge that gap and remind neighbors they are not alone.
The project was a collaborative effort between the Garner Woman’s Club, the Garner Lions Club, and local donors — all working toward one goal: to make sure no one in Garner goes hungry.
“We invite everyone to be part of this shared act of kindness,” said Alisha Puckett, President. “It’s a simple idea, but it’s built on the kind of compassion that keeps our town strong.”
The Blessing Box is located at 305 Main St. West, Garner, attached to the stair railing at the Lions Club building on Main Street and is open 24/7. Donations of shelf-stable foods, toiletries, and paper goods are welcome. There is even space to park while you either drop off or receive a blessing.
